Kent u3a Network itself is a forum for 32 Kent u3as (listed below) to promote its u3as, encourage recruitment, and exchange news, information, and ideas locally and on a regional and national level. A fuller list is given on the About Kent Network page.
The core of a local u3a is its interest groups. These are set up and run by the members and cover a very wide range of interests.
Together, Kent's u3as provide more than 1500 interest groups to encourage existing members to try out and new members to join the fun.
Our Principle is that the u3a movement is 'By the Members, For the Members'. Which means that members are expected to contribute, to join one or more interest groups and to help run the u3a, whether it is making the tea or even stepping up to be a member of the executive committee. And members are well supported if they want to set up their own interest group.
HOW TO JOIN A u3a?
As an individual u3a member you can request to attend interest groups in other u3as.
You can also use the facilities from the u3a Trust (www.u3a.org.uk) including Online Learning and Online Interest Groups.
You join by applying to an individual u3a (which does not have to be your nearest one). Anyone of any age can join.
